Sunscreens: Face

Mango season is here so definitely the temperature is gonna rise and as we are in Summers and Sunscreen is a HOT topic I thought why not continue with it. Today’s post is all about Face Sunscreen. Now this is something you should always use no matter if its sunny or not. Even if you stay in the AC office whole day and travel in a Car you are still gonna get sun damage which will not only give you a tan and sunburn but also will age your skin faster and give you sun spots. SO using sunscreen is serious business, but we sometimes hate the way sunscreen feel and that happens because we haven’t found the right kind of sunscreen for our skin type. I have dry to combination skin and following are the few sunscreens I use on an daily basis.

Neutrogena UltraSheer Dry Touch Sunblock SPF 50+

I am gonna start with my most used and my current fav sunscreen. This one I started using from last one year and I can’t believe I like it so much. I usually buy the small one because its easier to keep in your hand bag and to travel with it anywhere. Since you have to apply sunscreen every 4 hours this is a really easy tube to carry around.

✔This sunscreen doesn’t leave a white casts on the skin.

✔It blends really easily on the skin.

✔Doesn’t make your skin oily even T-zone.

✔It works great on every skin type whether dry or oily or combination.

✔I have sensitive skin and It did not break me out in any way.

✔Works great under and over makeup.

✔Mixes well with any moisturizer if needed.

✔It has SPF 50 with board spectrum.

❌It may seem expensive compared to other drugstore sunscreen (But its reasonable compared to high end options)

This is also great to mix with your body lotion and apply on your hands and legs or any exposed area. Plus the packaging is good.

Price: Rs 199/- for 30 ml and Rs 549/- for 88 ml

Neutrogena Sheer Zinc Dry-Touch Sunscreen SPF50+ (For Sensitive Skin)

This one recently launched in India and I decided to give it a try since I really like the other one and this one is specified for sensitive skin. Now I have used for almost a month and I like it but I like it a little less compared to the Ultra Sheer.

✔The consistency is little thicker compared to the other one, more milky

✔once blended doesn’t leave a white cast but really needs to be blended

✔A little goes a long way, you don’t need much with this sunscreen

✔It has zinc in it and Zinc is good in skincare

✔Works great under makeup

✔Did not break me out

❌Takes some time to blend on the skin

❌Its heavier on the skin compared to the Ultra Sheer you will like it more if you dry skin not so sure about the oily skin people

❌This only comes in one size so it can be a big investment to try it out and also difficult to carry it around

Overall its a good sunscreen I’ll use it more and update you guys. I have a feeling I like this more in Winters then Summer since it gives a dewy look to the skin.

My Ratings:

Lotus Herbals Safe Sun 3-in-1 Matte-Look Daily Sun Block Pa+++ SPF- 40

A lot of you have tried and tested and loved the Lotus sunscreen but mostly the gel one, now I personally don’t like the gel one. It made my skin dark and weird after using it. Even when I had oily skin I still did not like the gel version. But I love this matte version a lot more. Infact I used this for years till I found the Neutrogena one. It has a powder smell which I don’t really mind.

✔Its tinted so it doesn’t leave a white casts which I love the most about this sunscreen

✔Also this is great to even out your skin tone if you don’t have any major issues

✔It sets to a natural matte look so doesn’t look oily on the skin.

✔Works for almost all skin types.

✔Doesn’t melt off in the heat

✔The price is reasonable

❌Works great under makeup but not over makeup so reapply is not the best.

❌It has SPF 40 but somehow if you leave close to equator it doesn’t help with not getting tanned. (It worked fine for me In Mumbai but when I traveled to south it did not work)

❌I’m not the biggest fan of packaging just somehow always leaks when I am travelling with it

I would still be using this if I hadn’t found the Neutrogena one because compared to other sunscreen I have tried like the Lakme one this one worked really well. The lakme one just broke me out and made me sweat like crazy.

Price: Rs 245/- for 50 gm and Rs 395/- for 100 gm

Biotique Bio Sandalwood Ultra Soothing Face Lotion SPF 50+ UVA/UVB Sunscreen

I gave this sunscreen a try last to last winter because I had run out of my lotus sunscreen and wanted something more hydrating but also which had high SPF so I got this from a supermarket and I really liked using this. Infact this is my 2nd tube I got this winter.

✔It is reasonably priced and easy to find

✔The tube is small and light enough to carry with you

✔The consistency is like a face cream

✔Blends super fast and easy on the skin without leaving a white cast (also the cream has a hint of baby pink color which helps)

✔Its really hydrating on the skin without making you look oily and it doesn’t make your T zone oily even when you wear it whole day in the heat.

✔Very easy to reapply, works great under and over makeup

❌Maybe very oily skin people won’t like this as much

❌Packaging could be sleeker

❌The spf is 50 but it sometimes isn’t enough and you still get tanned

Over all this is something I would recommend during winters more then summers. But if you are looking for something natural and home grown brand and reasonable then this is a good option to try.

Price: Rs 200/- for 50 ml

My Ratings:

****All the above sunscreens are water resistant but according to me the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer one is more resistant, its more towards waterproof but not completely.

Remember to always use a sunscreen no matter what the weather and especially on your feet and arms which are exposed on a regular basis and also take good after sun care.
