Ilana Organics Brightening Serum and Moisture Mask Review

I’m gonna start with this isn’t a sponsored post, I bought these products myself and tested them out for 30 days. So I only used these products together but sometimes in between, I used either one or used it with other skincare products so I get a better idea of how they work. I have used these two in my PM routine as I was comfortable that way and in the day I used other products. Hope this review helps.

My Experience:

When I first started using this I did not really have high hopes for it since I haven’t heard or seen other bloggers talk about this brand or product much but seriously its one of the best serums I have used by far and the difference this has made on my skin, not even Korean skincare has so I definitely love this and you can see I already bought a backup.

Its orange-yellow in color and the consistency feels more like an oil and the scent is also strong but I really like the scent, it smells like lemongrass. The scent stays on the skin for an hour or so but it doesn’t irritate your skin or your eyes and I have very sensitive eyes. I actually think the scent makes it very soothing, it relaxes me a lot.

When you first apply it on the skin it does feel oily on the skin but it does sink in, just give it 5 mins. Makes your skin feel all dewy and pretty. If you are not used to vitamin C and are new to Vitamin C then give it some more time at first but this serum definitely doesn’t irritate your skin. Just don’t use a very heavy essence based toner before this serum.

It does feel heavy and oily when you first apply it on the skin so if you have oily skin you may think it’s too much but it won’t stay like that. It does get completely absorbed just give it some time. In fact in 15 mins or so you won’t even feel it on the skin so you will need to top it up with a moisturizer.

The packaging is also very compact and sturdy. The bottle is glass and you can see the quantity inside. It comes with a pump which makes it easy to use which also comes with a good cap. The quality of the packaging is good. Since it small it’s easy to travel with.

This serum works for all skin types but especially if you suffer from dull pigmented skin then this is something you have to try. I have pigmentation around my lips and I have dark patches all over face especially in the contour areas and this serum has made a huge difference. I have been using a lot less makeup, I did not feel the need for concealer this whole month. I don’t even get the dry patches I used on my cheeks. I even rub this under my eyes lightly and it has helped with the under-eye darkness too. This serum has even helped with the mild tan that was on the face forever. I’m so in love with this but I do find this a little too much for daytime use so I prefer using this in my PM routine.

Also, I noticed this serum helped me with the tiny bumps I get and also controlled my breakout I get because of pollution or allergy-related. I didn’t need to remove my Body shop tea tree night mask once this whole month. This serum worked as an all in one for me.

The only CON I think this serum has the quantity since you need 2-4 pumps daily one bottle only lasts for one month and the price then seems a little too much since you need to keep repurchasing it but I do think it’s totally worth it.

How I use it: I take 2 pumps on my palms rub them and then apply to my face and I massage it on my skin in swift quick upward motions. I just feel it helps the serum sink into your skin faster. I use 2 pumps for face and I take two more pumps for my neck and do the same. I let this sit on my skin undisturbed for 5 mins at least. That way it sinks in properly and it won’t look or feel oily anymore. I usually apply this serum after toning, recently been using the vitamin C toner from Pixie and I have been loving the combination. I don’t prefer using a water-based sleeping mask on top of this. I prefer using a cream-based sleeping mask or light moisturizer on top.

Tip of the day: If you suffer from marks on legs and hands due to ingrowth then apply this in that area for 2 weeks and it will lighten those pesky marks and make the skin soft around it.

My Recommendation:

Definitely yes since it works for all skin types

My Rating: 6 out of 5

My Experience:

This is a different type of moisturizer so they named it right it’s more a moisture mask so when you first apply it, it does feel like a mask but then it gets absorbed into the skin making your skin look plump and super hydrated working like a moisturizer. The first week I used this I thought its not enough for my dry skin but after a week I realized it works amazingly even for my dry skin. All my dry patches are gone and my skin feels more plumped, more bouncy and it doesn’t feel dull and tired anymore in the day.

A few days I used only the serum and skipped this moisture mask and used something else but I instantly missed it. Somehow I think this works the best with the brightening serum. The combination together gives the best results. You really need to give this mask 2 weeks of proper use to see a difference and then you won’t be able to stop using it.

The consistency is super light and airy and the texture feels super creamy but also feels bouncy once you apply it on the skin. Gives you the instant dewy look. Takes about 10 mins to completely sink in the skin so give it some time and don’t use this if you are in a hurry since it needs time. The color looks mustard yellowish but goes on transparent on the skin. The moment you apply this you will feel this coolness on your skin which clams your skin and this has really helped me with the allergies I get because of skin irritation due to heat.

This does have a strong scent not as strong as the serum but it’s there but it’s more calming to the sense and doesn’t irritate your nose or your eyes so that’s good. The scent will linger for at least 1 hour then it fades away.

Now if you suffer from clogged pores especially in humid weather then please just go get this. I have used so many water-based sleeping masks and this is lighter than those in comparison it doesn’t feel so when you first apply it on the skin but you will realize that in the morning after. It lets your skin breathe at night and gives you the hydration you need. Continuous use of this helps in evening out your skin tone and helps with the pesky leftover acne marks.

The packaging is a glass tub with a plastic cap that comes with a white stopper inside which helps in no spillage. The tub does have some weight on it but it’s easy enough to travel with. The quality of the packaging is really good. One tub will last you one and half months of regular use but if you use it twice a day then it will last only one month.

How I use it: I take some on my palm and then pat it on my skin first my face then neck and then I use my knuckles to massage it into the skin. I feel this way works better for me.

I use this mostly after the serum but I also use this when I’m not using the serum. Just give it 10 mins before you get to bed otherwise it does transfer on the pillow.

My Recommendation:

If you are oily acne-prone and moisturizers break you out or cause clogged pores then you should definitely try this. Even if you have combination skin and you find other moisturizers too heavy even at night then this is a great one to try since it’s lightweight on the skin.

My Rating: 5 out of 5

I cannot say enough good things about this brand and my experience has been amazing but I do think these are expensive products since you will need to constantly repurchase them as the quantity is quite less and you do need a good amount of the product. If you had to try one thing from the brand to try it out I would suggest the serum but if you suffer from cystic acne and don’t wanna get the serum then you can definitely try the moisture mask. They also have serum for acne-prone skin which you can give a try.
