Packaging:

The packaging is classic glass round bottles with silver screw cap. Now some lipsticks that are made under collaboration do have different color caps or some extra design on the tube itself. The name of the lipstick and the name of the color is on the lipstick tube. The applicator is a regular doe foot applicator which isn’t very flexible but it works for the formula and even thin lip people can use it without a mess. They do come in cardboard boxes but I don’t usually save them anyway. The lipstick is easy to travel with.

Formula:

There are different formulas under ultra matte itself since they did reformulate in between but they did it for the better. Its a classic matte formula kiss-proof, transfer proof, long lasting. Thin liquidy formula that dries completely matte. Now their very first formula was a lot more drying then they made a better version in between and the formula got a lot more comfortable those are the ones I have but they recently came out with totally new shades and that new formula is very comfortable and a lot less drying on the lips I don’t have the new shade so can’t say for sure.

My Experience:

The first Colourpop lipstick I got was Lumiere-2 and I completely fell in love even-though it was the old formula and it was drying on the lips, I did not mind because the color looked fabulous and it lasted the most any liquid lipstick had before so I went ahead and got few more shades.

I borrowed some shades from my cousin and swatched them on both her hands and mine. The left side pic is my hand and I’m NC 37 in Mac and the right side is my cousin’s she is NC 42 in Mac. This way you will get a better idea on how the colors look, sorry for the messy swatch. The swatches are in natural sunlight. The top one is missing little star because I couldn’t find it at that time. It was in my bag.

A lot of people say that the ultra matte range is very drying and I agree but for me its still not as drying as the Sugar Smudge me not. I actually really like the colourpop formula because it does whatever it claims. It is really long lasting, it lasts on me upto 9-10 hours. Some colors like the dark ones do fade from the middle when I eat too oily food but they leave a stain so they don’t look that bad. Reapplying can look a little crusty so just apply it where its faded. Now some dark colors do feel patchy but they even out on the lips if blended properly.

They are kiss-proof to a certain extent. They are comfortable to wear upto 4 hours then they get drying so apply a lip balm underneath. Exfoliating your lips before hand always works. The nude colors do look crusty from the middle after 5 hours so you can always just even it out with dapping some lip balm over it.

You would either really like the formula or you won’t I feel this formula is quite a hit or a miss. These are traditional liquid lipstick so don’t expect a miracle but for me these are the most long lasting of them all. I have worn Little star for a wedding reception which lasted 12 hours for me and the lipstick just stayed put without looking crusty or weird. Infact I did not need to touch up and I did eat and drink in between a lot. Little star and Love bug I got recently so they are more comfortable to wear compared to the others. Rooch is the color my cousin sister ordered and its really comfortable too and its not patchy even though its dark. More better is from the old collection so its a little patchy but I love the color a lot.

If you are someone who used colourpop ultra matte a long time back and hated it then, you have to try the new formula I am pretty sure you will love it now because they are a lot more comfortable to wear and they still last a long time and are transfer proof. Its the one lipstick I own that I know isn’t gonna stain my coffee mug.

I totally recommend these lipstick, you have got to try atleast one from this range. They have a huge variety of colors, you will definitely find one that you will love.

My Ratings: (4/5)

I do own the ultra satin and the lippie stix and one from the lux lipstick collection from colourpop. Suffice to say I really like the brand. I’ll be reviewing the Ultra satin pretty soon so stay tuned. I have borrowed some from my cousin’s collection so I can swatch it for you all.
